At this point, most of us have returned to our normal routines after the destruction from Hurricane Sandy hit our area.  It is hard to fathom that there are still people displaced and trying to recover from the devastation.  With our previous office located in Island Park, NY, we know what it was like to literally lose everything.  After the storm, like thousands of other businesses, we were displaced for over a month, working out of a temporary recovery center before we were finally able to move to our current location in Long Beach, NY.

Once we got settled into our new ‘home’ we decided that we wanted to participate in more team building events and be able to give back to our community.  There are many benefits of participating in Team Building events as an organization.  If you and your co-workers can work confidently and efficiently together then you have a better chance of achieving business success.  We feel that participating in these team building events outside of work allows us to get to know each other on a different level.  These events help us develop a way to discuss issues, communicate ideas and identify solutions by working together.  Volunteering is a great ‘team building’ event that everyone can do.  After coordinating with the United Way and the Long Island Volunteer Center Sandy Response organizations, we were assigned a volunteer project in Point Lookout, NY on Friday, June 14^th.  We were given a brief orientation by our Long Island Volunteer Center Sandy Response Team Leaders, we drove to the site, suited up and began the clean-up and trash removal process.  It was a great day and a great ‘team building’ opportunity for our organization.

We were so happy and proud to be able to give back to our community and are looking forward to more volunteer opportunities in the future.
