Communication Skills to help set you apart from the rest…

  • Speak Loud & Clear – If you rush or mumble what you are trying to say you are not communicating effectively.  Try slowing it down and speaking a reasonable pace.  Have confidence that you know what you’re talking about and other people will listen.  It helps to take a deep breath, think about what you’re going to say and THEN say it.
  •  Make Eye Contact – This isn’t an easy thing for a lot of people to do.  This takes practice, but making eye contact with someone sets the tone for the whole conversation.  It shows confidence, connects you and allows you to gauge the other person’s reaction to what you are saying.
  • Use the Proper Words – Stick to what you know.  Misusing a word that you do not really understand is worse than just mispronouncing it.  You could end up conveying a completely different message than the one you originally intended and people will be less likely to take you serious.
