Labor Day

Labor Day Weekend symbolically marks the end of the summer. It’s a time when kids start heading back to school, we put away our white clothes (or not) and football begins! Here are a few ideas to make the most out of your Labor Day Weekend without breaking the bank!

Tackle home improvement projects – Instead of planning an expensive trip to end the summer, make a list of a few home improvements you’d like to get done before you go back to work or school, such as painting, power washing the outside of your house or gardening. You can use this long weekend to get these tasks done while still having enough time for relaxation and fun!

Host a ‘Potluck’ Barbeque – As we know, barbeques are one of the most traditional ways of spending Labor Day with your family and friends, but it doesn’t mean all of the stress of planning has to be on you! Invite your friends and family and have them each bring a side dish and or drink so that all of the expense does not fall on you.

Enjoy a ‘Stay-cation’ – Rather than traveling to a different city/town/state for an end of the summer vacation, consider planning a ‘stay-cation’. Plan as though you’re on vacation, i.e. visit state parks near you, museums, beaches, restaurants you’ve never tried, etc. but skip the expensive hotels and stay at home instead!

There are plenty of options for inexpensive ways to spend your Labor Day Weekend, you just have to get creative!

Please note our office will be closing at 1p.m. on Friday, August 29th, 2014 and we will be closed on Monday, September 1st, 2014 in observance of the Labor Day Holiday. Have a great weekend!
