Martin Luther King Jr., delivered his 17 minute public, “I Have a Dream” speech from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on August 28th, 1963. While looking over the Washington Monument, he gracefully addressed a crowd of nearly 200,000 supporters. King’s ability to serenely protest paved the way for improved living conditions and race relations within our country today. With King’s assassination in 1968, our country lost not only a great leader, but a prominent person who most people believed was an influential force in changing our society for the better.
