Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is generally defined as the process of improving the visibility of your website in search results on the web. High search engine optimization is what all companies should be striving for in regards to their websites. Generally, the higher you are on the results list, the more frequent it will show up in search results and this means more users will visit your page.
The effectiveness of SEO is often debated. People who do not understand how to utilize it will obviously think that it isn’t that important. They should reconsider that notion. You must be careful though; there are two different types of SEO – White hat and black hat techniques.

- Try utilizing a ‘branded’ URL for your social media sites (i.e. www.facebook.com/newempiregroup)
- Keywords – Include keywords in your title, within the first 50 words of your content and be sure to link keywords within your content to relevant information your readers can utilize
- Titles – makes sure to grab attention by using unique headlines
- Backlink to your site as often as possible throughout your content.
Techniques you should avoid (Black hat SEO)…
- Keyword stuffing (i.e. using a keyword excessively)
- Using malicious code
- Purchasing links from ‘link farms’
- Doorway pages – using a low-quality web page that has little content but is packed with similar keywords and phrases – these types of pages are designed to get a higher ranking in the search results, but have no useful information on them.
