It seems you can insure just about anything these days! There is an insurance policy out there available for almost anything that you consider worth value.
Here are a few insurance trends we’re seeing more and more of…
Wedding Insurance – You probably don’t want to think about anything bad happening on your special day but, disasters can happen! Wedding insurance can help protect you against the unpredictable including anything from sudden cancellation, a damaged gown or stolen gifts. Wedding insurance protects a couple’s investments from unforeseen circumstances and reimburses expenses incurred. Wedding insurance can cost anywhere between $155 to $550, depending on the coverage you choose. (For a more detailed description of what wedding insurance covers, visit theknot.com)
Engagement Ring Insurance – Recently engaged? One of the first things you should do is ensure your engagement ring. You can purchase the ring insurance as an extension or “rider” for your renters’ or homeowners’ policy. Another option is to ensure your ring through an insurance company that specializes solely on jewelry insurance (this of course, will give you more coverage options than an extension on your homeowner’s policy).
Pet Insurance – With the price of Veterinarian bills increasing rapidly, it is becoming more common for pet owners to purchase pet insurance. Like any other insurance policy, they offer different coverages. Most policies include a yearly deductible then once the deductible is paid, you receive a reimbursement for up to 80% of your veterinarian bills. Some Breeders are now offering pet insurance for the first year of the puppy or kittens life. Can you insure other types of pets? What do circuses do in terms of insuring their animals?
Body Part Insurance – Although this isn’t a new insurance trend, we are noticing more Celebrities insuring their body parts these days. Just to name a few, Mariah Carey insured her legs for $1 billion dollars, America Ferrara insured her smile with Lloyd’s of London for $10 million dollars, Troy Polamalu‘s hair is insured for $1 million dollars, Heidi Klum insured her legs for $2.2 million dollars ($1.2 million for her right leg, and $1 million for her left due to a small mark on her knee), Jamie Lee Curtis insured her legs for $2 million dollars. David Beckham has his legs insured for $70 million dollars!!!
